At that time it was popular as Banarasi Bagh and even today old and local people of Lucknow call it Banarasi Bagh. I also know it as Banarasi Bagh since childhood.

As per historical descriptions, this place is called Banarasi Bagh due to some special plants brought from Banaras that were planted in the garden. Lucknow was popular as the city of Bagh. Charbagh, Lalbagh, Qaiserbagh, Alambagh, Banarsi Bagh, Malihabad, Sikandar Bagh, Dali Bagh, etc are the most important places in Lucknow.
